Kinjocho / Stone-Paved Road area
Part of the “Madama-michi,” an official road built in the 16th century. About 300 meters of Ryukyu-limestone paving run up the hillside, flanked by red-tile houses and stone walls — one of the best places to feel the character of Shuri, and one of Japan's 100 Best Roads. Walking downhill from the south side of Shuri Castle toward Kinjo Bridge is the classic route.

⚠ Etiquette: The road runs through a residential neighborhood. Please do not enter private property, and keep noise down.
Note: Steep downhill sections and stone steps continue throughout. The paving is slippery in rain and unsuitable for strollers.
