Shuri Station area
Founded in 1918, a small awamori distillery in Shuri's Akata neighborhood. Its flagship brand, “Shigure,” was named for the refreshing taste it aims for, like a passing autumn shower. The distillery reportedly holds some of the oldest surviving vintage awamori, keeping alive the history of Shuri Sanka, the three districts once licensed to make awamori. Weekday purchases are possible at the office, and a visit pairs well with a meal at nearby Akata eateries such as Shuri Soba.
