The gate that is the face of Shuri Castle, a paifang-style gate bearing the tablet “SHUREI NO KUNI” (“Land of Propriety”). Familiar from the design on the 2,000-yen banknote, it is the classic photo spot for a Shuri Castle visit. It stands in the free area and can be viewed anytime the park is open.
